There are many ways to save money on DIY projects for your home - one being to buy in the materials yourself. Having done just that with the installation of oak stair parts, let me give you another example. I have access to extruded polystyrene, and wish to install this in my home. The main need is time to obtain the materials. I would like to add a very thick layer of this in the attic. I also have access to a large quantity of particle board. This I would use to create more living space, and thus increase the value of my house, as it is valued by the square foot. A person could also combine these two products to make something like a pre-fab wall. This could be used for making an outdoor pool house, which would also be handy. There are also many readers digest books which have ideas that these products will work with. |

This summer I was growing an organic garden of fruits and vegetables. I had tomatoes, lettuce, cilantro, corn, watermelons, strawberries and grapes growing in my garden. I live near almond orchards and right down the street from a dairy, therefore I had a major pest problem. My garden was infested with little tree spiders, gnats and ants. Previously to this, I'd only had to deal with fleas with flea sprays, so this was all new to me. I did not want to use chemicals to kill these pests because that would defeat the purpose of having an organic garden. After tons of research I decided on trying this organic pest control stuff called "organocide". Organocide contains sesame oil to work on killing these pest. I really liked how organocide does not just work on pest control but fungus disease control as well. I have tried other organic pest control stuff but never had as much success that I had with organocide. I would recommend this to anyone interested in growing an organic garden of their own. |

I'd always been put off by self build. I mean, look at those messy projects you see on Grand Designs - all the hassle and trouble involved, and risk too! And yet, looking at the housing market, I just couldn't find a home suitable for myself, so here I am embarking on my own self build project. The good news is - once I have finally consulted with the architect, it's pretty much hands OFF for me from that point on, which is what I love. I am far too busy running my own business to stand on a building site with a hardhat on my head pointing to things! I trust the foreman and architect and I'll let them get on with things. They're only to contact me if absolutely necessary, so again - perfect for me and my busy lifestyle. I can't wait for the project to start! |

I woke up in the middle of the night to get myself a glass of water so I went to the kitchen and switched the lights on. I was shocked and really scared me to see big cockroaches all over the kitchen table. In the past, I'd easily dealt with flies using door fly screens, but this was something else entirely. The next morning I woke up and told my wife about it to which she replied that she had usually comes across them and have used disinfectant sprays but still cant get rid of them all. So I decided to clear up all cockroaches from my house. I bought a very strong disinfectant from the market mixed it with water as per instructions and poured it into a spray bottle. I completely emptied the kitchen and then started spraying all over the kitchen, left it overnight. The next morning there were plenty of cockroaches lying upside down on the kitchen floor. Cleared up the mess and my kitchen was pest free. Few days later I found mice drops in my store room. There u go again so got some rat poison but didn’t work so I purchased a trap from the market and placed them in the store. I caught 8 mice in 3 days. After all that I was very relieved but to my shock after a few weeks they start creeping up again and every time I got rid of them they kept coming after few weeks. After a lot of research I figured out how they kept on coming. The neighbors didn’t really care about these pests. They had tried getting rid as well with same results. I can understand where the cockroaches come from but mice keeps creeping into our house. I wonder mother earth ,where these mice hide as it is cool and dark with no human interference, is getting hotter and hotter everyday and these poor creatures can no longer bear the heat so hence they come out to survive. |

I can't help but feel that we humans are still living in the dark ages when it comes to generating power. On a particularly hot day, there we are with a huge power source burning it's rays down on us, trying to make power from fossil fuels. The solar panel technology we are using today does show us that we can harness some of this huge power source, and indeed, there is no doubt solar power is getting more and more popular. But the trouble is governments are still too reliant on fossil fuels. While we are still using coal, oil and gas, there's not going to be the compulsion from governments to put more money into solar panel technology, or indeed - even wind or hydro-electric forms of generating electricity. There isn't a lack of power sources that we humans face - it's just a question of creating the technology to harness such power even more efficiently that we need to discover. |

There are some roofs that never allow water to get in to the homes or the buildings that they are covering. Such roofs are left standing for a long time because the roof tiler who worked on the roof was very thorough and did not take any chances when it came to making sure that the roof they have set up is very sturdy and will not succumb to any type of pressure. A dedicated and hardworking roof tiler has knowledge when it comes to evaluating roof designs that have been drafted down. They will also inspect very well the area in which the roof is supposed to be set up. The location will give him a rough idea of the type of tiles that are going to be needed for the roofing structure. A roof tiler who is competent will have a very safe working environment. Since he is very aware that he is going to be working in high heights, he will have an extra support system other than a ladder. Safety to him comes first. |

Tiles cannot exist without slates because slates make tiles. There are some manufacturers who are coming up with tiles that are made from different materials not necessarily slate or clay and the problem with these tiles is that they do not last for long and that is a very big problem. The alternate materials that are being used to manufacture the tiles are concrete which is mixed with clay and plastic. Without this mixture, the tiles will be very brittle and useless and will make very horrible roofs. That is why both roof slating and tiling should coexist. There are slates that are very famous for being the well-built. The slate called the honister green slate is considered to be the one that is the most substantial when it comes to how thick it is. It is also very sturdy when you put it side by side with the slate that is welsh in nature. There is no slate in world that is better than the honister slate. It does not come in a single monotonous color but there is a variety. |

What makes a roof not leak water in the house? Roofs do not only come in one layer but they come in several layers. If someone chooses slate as a roofing material for their roof, they are going to need other roofing materials to make the roof strong. The slates by themselves will not be able to provide the tenacity that is required. That is why felt roofing is used with other roofing materials. The components of the felt roofing materials are what keeps the roof from having water getting in the structure that the roof is meant for. Bitumen is one of the components of the felt roof. The nature of the felt roof will not allow it to let water in because it is water proof, the bitumen on itself is very hard. There are many types of roofs, but without components like the felt roof then there is going to be a very big problem with the roof. Different roofing materials complement each other and cannot exist by themselves the strength of the roof depends on the combination of all the materials. |

It is very important to have Electrical estimates before you finalize which electrician team you would want to work with. Get the Electrical estimates on the company’s letterhead, since it becomes a document all too legal and enforceable, just incase the contract is not respected and you have paid half the amount for the job to be done.
Written Electrical estimates would also have a registration number, which would assure you of the right experts doing the job and great quality work as well. You should only have qualified and licensed electricians doing the job, if in doubt ask for papers to prove the same.
Always discuss the Electrical estimates in detail with a professional electrician. If there is something that bothers you, please ask. Finally, Electrical estimates would be the full and final deal on paper, nothing more or less should come by, or else as a customer, you have the right to take them to the consumer court. |

In the world today we live in, we often face issues and even read about various basic amenity problems, water problems being one of them. We have read about rain water harvesting, pool collections etc, which would help us, but how many of us know that simple etiquette at home can actually be the answer to many of our daily woes and in this regard water problems.
Here are a few steps to avoid water problems
1. Use water only as much as you want- most of us leave the taps running while we bathe, shave, brush or perform other toilet needs. This leads to water problems such as low pressure and insufficient supply.
2. water problems can also be avoided when we learn not to avoid fixing leaks, dripping faucets or even pesky showers.
3. Finally get more from less, learn how to save water while using your washing machine or even the dishwasher at home. Be stern about your usage and don’t run them just for one or two items in a day over and over again. This would help you steer clear of water problems! |

I would love to come home in the spring or summer time and tend to a garden. I'd have one of those pop-up gazebos there too to bring some shade to the area. I think a garden should be a place of aesthetic beauty - not just a patch of grass - so I'd need to work on the place to make it beautiful.
Having no yard and only a patio as I do at the moment, the first thing I would do is make a little garden for myself. I already have patio furniture, but nothing motivates me to spend time outside unless I had something to work on. I would have many large planters. Some filled with vegetables like lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Others would have herbs I could use in my meals- basil, thyme, rosemary. I would also have just a few flowers and just greenery to make the patio less structural and more in touch with nature. |

So there are many instances in this life that people live in where they find themselves having to leave a place they have called home ever since they could remember to a place that they have to start calling it home and eventually make it place that they can comfortably feel at home. There are many reasons that can cause a person to move from one place to another. A percentage of the current generation will in turn decide to go to college in Berkshire and while there they will not live in the dormitories but instead, they will sit a house for someone who is away because of work or a vacation and as they are sitting the house they get to have accommodation. People do not like leaving their houses empty like that so they get people to sit their houses for them. If at one time they experience and electrical moment, they call an electrician Berkshire who will look at the issue and fix it. They do this because they know that they are responsible of the house and will treat it as their own until the owner resurfaces. |

When it comes to buying things in a house, the role of buying the things gets divided in to two. The man in the house it can either be a husband, a brother, a nephew, a grandfather or even an uncle. The role of buying electronic things like the television set, the stereo, the speakers of the house, the barbecue usually lies with the man. This is because they know what it is to look out for, and they are the people who take electronics very seriously and in most cases they are obsessed by it. When it comes to house hold items, like the furniture, the kitchen equipment and even the cleaning equipment like the the carpet cleaners, and the laundry machine, the lady of the house buys them. It can be a mother, a sister, an aunt or even a niece. This is because they know what to lookout for. For example if it is the carpet cleaners, they know which one is the best, because of how it collects the dust. How it drains water off the carpets and also how it puts the cleaning products on the carpet. This is something that is only known the person who actually does the cleaning of the house. |
