When the government announced that it was going to issue out grants to those who were directly involved in environmental research, so many applicants showed up. It was evident that so many people wanted to benefit, but the government could only award a few projects because of scarcity of funds. The only option left was to issue the grants as discretionary grants. The government was going to go over every application and to ascertain which of the applications addressed the main issues that it was willing to fund, and that is how they managed to reduce the number of applicants to the number they could manage to fund. Those who did not qualify sought other grants in order to continue with their research. Research grants have been helping our country so much because they help upgrade our school curriculum. The results of the research are included in our education journals for the benefit of each and every citizen. We are still waiting to hear what the environmentalists will recommend after their research in order to improve our environment.
